Eldoret to Benefit from Climate Resilience and Urban Development Programs-Ruto

President Wiliam Ruto has singled out Eldoret Municipality as one of the beneficiaries from various national government projects.
He added the national government projects which the municipality has benefited from includes the ongoing construction of Eldoret central market.
“The national government is making significant investments to radically transform living conditions in informal settlements under the Kenya informal settlements improvement programme [KISIP],” he pointed out.
Ruto said this will deliver substantial impacts on investment, security and quality of life.
He made the remarks during a ceremony for conferment of city status to Eldoret held at Eldoret sports club in Uasin Gishu county.
The Head of State assured those at the ceremony that the government has other programs and projects whose agenda are in the pipeline to reignite  the creative energy.
President Ruto added the productivity and energy in the city of champions has given Kenyans the best chance of winning the race to the future.
He urged them to remain mindful of the need to address urban vulnerabilities to climate change.
‘’This  is why the department of housing and urban development has identified 580 hotspots where we will urgently implement climate resilience programs,” he pointed out.
The Head of State said the programs are aimed at protecting the urban vulnerable from the adverse impacts of climate change.
President Ruto said he has been following with great interest the work that has prepared Eldoret for city status.
