Nyanza Leaders Hail President Ruto’s Tour to the Region

President William Ruto’s visit to Nyanza region has received overwhelming support for local leaders and the business community.

The President is expected to tour the region on Tuesday and Wednesday where he is expected to launch state projects.

Johnson Oduk who is a business man and politician from Ndhiwa in Homabay has welcomed the visit, saying that it’s timely and long overdue.

Oduk has listed several road projects and industries he wants the President to help launch and restart respectively.

“I am in support of the President visit to Nyanza. We need more roads and development projects.Like the road from Rapogi to Rapedhi,Kalamindi
Kadem road and the Sori Luanda road that remains unfinished,” he said.

He also wants the President to address the issue of Riat Sugar Factory that is facng operational challenges.

President Ruto is set for the major tour of Raila Odinga’s backyard, weeks after forming the broad-based government with the region’s sons at key dockets.

Ruto’s decision to work with Raila’s allies from Luo Nyanza and Kenya at large appears to have excited the region and triggered a radical shift likely to see the president make a grand entry there.

The president’s planned unveiling of the ODM leader’s candidacy as Kenya’s candidate for the African Union Commission chairperson is also expected to further change fortunes for him.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who is also the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, announced this week that Ruto will formally unveil Raila’s candidacy on Tuesday.

Ruto is expected to visit Kisumu, Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay counties beginning Wednesday , a day after launching Raila’s bid.

During the trip, Ruto is expected to commission and launch several development projects across the four counties.

The President will also attend homecoming ceremonies for Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi in Siaya and his National Treasury Counterpart John Mbadi in Homa Bay.
