An MP from Mt Kenya region has alleged the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) board of management has been taken over by strangers.

Gatundu South legislator Gabriel Kagombe said it has come to their notice that the entire leadership of KTDA has been hijacked.

He said to make matters worse the strangers’ mandate to run the affairs are not known to stakeholders.

“They don’t have a tea bush and they don’t care about the welfare of the stakeholders,” he pointed out.

Kagombe alleged their target is the embezzlement of the stakeholders’ funds.

He was addressing the media during an induction held at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort, Convention Center in Mombasa County.

The legislator said they have a hidden agenda to ensure and to see the sale of tea does not happen.

Kagombe, who was Director representing zone one Kiambu county in the KTDA Board, said they won’t allow KTDA affairs to be taken over by the strangers.

He refuted claims there are conflicts stating they own the company 100 per cent.

‘’We the farmers invest in the company but are denied representation,” he said.

The legislator told the media they have resolved to call for the new KTDA board to be dissolved with immediate effect.

Kagombe said they have given notice by way of a resolution with 54 factories in support of the dissolution move.

He said they demand for reconstitution representing posterity.
