Over 1,000 Legislators to Participate in Inter-Parliamentary Games

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) legislator Kanini Kega who doubles up as co chair of the 2nd joint planning committee for the 14th edition of the inter-parliamentary games making his remarks at the Mombasa county assembly in Mombasa county. The committee later inspected several venues and facilities where the games will be held at end of this year.

Members of a joint planning committee are in the port city of Mombasa to inspect the venue for the 14th inter-parliamentary games to be held at the costal city of Mombasa.

 

The host who is Chairman of the National Assembly Bunge Sports Club Vincent Musyoka led the members of the planning committee courtesy of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) secretariat.

 

Speaking to the media during the inspection of the venue for the games Musyoka said it has been their tradition to carry out the inspection of the games venue before the start of the games.

 

He pointed out that the inspection is in preparedness of the host country which has to be carried out before the games get underway.

 

“At end of the year a total of 1,500 legislators drawn from different countries will take part during the annual event courtesy of EALA,” he said.

 

Musyoka added that the member states will participate in different game disciplines.

 

He was addressing the media outside the Mombasa county assembly after his opening remarks during the 2nd joint planning committee meeting ahead of the annual games in Mombasa county.

 

The host said their visit is not the first adding that the host local committee had previously inspected the venue before the joint planning committee’s visit.

 

Musyoka said the planning committee’s main aim is to assess the recommended facilities before the games commence.

 

He argued some of the games facilitates are multipurpose which can host more than two game disciplines.

 

“Majority of games venues are public which require minor repair work apart from the Aga Khan Academy which is a private facility,” he pointed out.

 

The Chairman of the National Assembly Bunge Sports Club told the media they are prepared to host the events which are scheduled from 6th to 18 December.
