Former Golf Club officials dominate weekend tournament

A prominent businessman won this year’s Uganda-Kenya Coast Region  Tourism golf tournament played at the weekend.

 

Eliud Bett was declared overall winner after beating 100 golfers during the tournament held at the Mombasa Sports Club in Mombasa county.

 

He posted 48 points playing off on 25 handicap.

 

Former club chairman Peter Kimanga won in the men’s category after he managed to post 42 points on count back playing off on 14 handicap.

 

Former club captain Wilfred Achilla took the runners-up award in the men’s category after he managed to post 42 points playing off on 24 handicap.

 

Kenya Golf Union (KGU) executive James Gitonga, who is also immediate former club captain, won the third award in the men’s category. Playing off  on 18 handicap he posted 41 points on count back.

 

Monica Kamundi won the trophy in the ladies’ category after she posted 36 points playing off on 33 handicap.

 

The runners-up award in the ladies’ category went to Mary Mariga after she posted 35 points playing off on handicap 13.

The new Ugandan High Commissioner to Kenya Phibby Otaala presided over the awarding ceremony.
