Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have threatened to ban the operations of Lopha Matatu Sacco after one of its vehicles was involved in the destruction of county property in the Parklands/Highridge ward. During committee proceedings on Thursday, October 3, 2024, the Roads and Transport Committee Chairperson, Patrick Musango Maithya, announced that the Sacco faces potential sanctions due to this incident.

Musango, who also represents Pipeline Ward, expressed frustration over the recurring misbehavior of matatus affiliated with the Sacco.

He warned, “This serves as a last warning to your Sacco! We are tired of unruly matatus causing mayhem in the City.”

The Sacco representatives acknowledged their drivers’ misconduct, apologized, and agreed to repair the damaged pavement and fence. They also promised to take action against the drivers responsible. Further discussions will take place on Friday, as the committee seeks to determine additional steps.
