Gov’t Allocates Sh1.4bn for Aquaculture and Agriculture at the Coast Region

President William Ruto has disclosed his administration has invested Sh2.4 billion to promote and enhance aquaculture and agriculture in the country.

 

He announced the government has allotted Sh1.4 billion out of the amount to the coast region.

 

"The amount is in line with the development of the national mariculture resource and training centre [NAMARET] at Shimoni in Kwale county," he said.

 

Ruto pointed out the centre will serve as a catalyst for the growth of productive and profitable mariculture.

 

He made the remark’s during the marking of the 61st Mashujaa Day at Kwale stadium in Kwale County while presiding over the day’s ceremony.

 

The Head of State, in his 14 pages speech, told the well-attended fete that NAMARET will be function as marine fishing seed breeding and multiplication centre.

 

President Ruto added that the centre will facilitate research and innovation in maricultre and offer training for fish farmers and students.
