Boosting Tourism: Kenya’s Coast Circuit Launched with Focus on Youth and Infrastructure
The newly launched Coast Tourism Circuit in Kenya is a collaborative effort to drive tourism growth through a streamlined approach that brings together the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, local county governments, and the private sector.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano highlighted that the project aims to attract both local and international tourists through improved marketing strategies and competitive travel packages. With a goal of reaching 2.5 million visitors by 2024 and 5 million by 2027, the initiative is seen as a major economic boost.
CS Miano underscored the importance of involving youth as ambassadors for tourism, acknowledging their role in promoting the industry through innovation. During a meeting with Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, she emphasized Mombasa’s key position as a leading destination. Governor Nassir expressed his support, advocating for enhanced tourism infrastructure, including the development of Mama Ngina Park, and seeking local management of the site to further strengthen the region’s appeal.
The new circuit represents a unified vision for coastal tourism, with each county aligning efforts to offer a more cohesive experience for visitors.
