Education CS Calls for Greater Technology Integration in Schools

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba said there is no doubt that digital transformation is essential if they are to enhance inclusivity and sustainability in the education system.

 

He said the sector had learnt a lesson during the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

“The pandemic is still fresh in Kenyans’ minds as the entire country had suddenly fallen victim to the pandemic to the extent of disrupting our conventional way of doing things,” he disclosed.

 

Ogamba pointed out that people saw how valuable technology was in overcoming the hurdles that the pandemic had brought.

 

He spoke during the closing of the primary heads delegates conference held at the Sheikh Zayed hall in Mombasa county.

 

The four day forum had attracted 15,000 delegates including those from junior primary and was officially opened by Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Felix K. Koskei at the port city.

 

The education CS told the participants that online meetings and engagements proved significant in ensuring that business continued without undue interruption.

 

He added that before then online teaching and learning was not generally embraced at the basic education level.

 

“It was instrumental at the higher education level,” he pointed out.
