ODM Mombasa County Secretary Geoffrey Busaka Facing Removal
A human rights activist Betty Sharon has declared her interest to vie for the position of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Mombasa county branch secretary currently held by Geoffrey Busaka ahead of countrywide grassroots polls scheduled for November 27.
She said her reason for seeking the party branch post is that the incumbent is a government employee as he is employed by the county government.
“As per government regulations Busaka is not allowed to hold a political office,” she pointed out.
The human rights activist has refuted claims she had a personal grudge against him.
She made her announcement during her campaign trail in Kisauni constituency.
The human rights activist said the incumbent has served his two term tenure and it was time for him to pave way for new blood at the county branch ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, confusion has rocked ODM grassroots election apart from a press release by party election coordinating committee’s Emily Awita with scant information.
We have established that efforts by party branches to hold a consensus meeting have been thwarted despite the cash crisis as the party prepares to conduct party primaries this month.
