PAA Plans to Oust Kilifi Governor as Part of 2027 Election Strategy
Maitha disclosed the party will put its energy to oust Kilifi governor Gideon Mung’aro come the next polls.
Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) is out to ensure it wins more than 15 elective posts come the 2027 general elections.
Party secretary general Lucas Maitha said their idea is to ensure they will be on the negotiation table when a coalition government is formed after the 2027 polls.
He argued the current number of three legislators out of 349 does not qualify the party organs to sit with the government to negotiate government slots.
“The numbers at the national assembly and the senate assembly made the Kenya Kwanza administration to seek Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga to form the broad-based government,” he pointed out.
Maitha disclosed the party will put its energy to oust Kilifi governor Gideon Mung’aro come the next polls.
He spoke during the party activity community engagement forum held at Shika Adabu hall in Rabai constituency, Kilifi county. The one day forum was under the courtesy of the Centre for Multiparty Democracy Kenya, and the area member of parliament Anthony Kenga Mupe was present.
The PAA spokesperson insisted that despite having low number of their members at the national assembly they are still in the Kenya Kwanza coalition and sit in the government side and support government moves during parliamentary sessions.
Maitha, who is former Malindi lawmaker, reminded the forum they have been ignored during negotiations due to the lack of numbers.
He pointed out there is a bad narrative in the coast region that once you engage in talks with ODM the issues in the region have been solved.
“Come 2027 the party, apart from defending its parliamentary seats, will be out to add more seats to 15 to be strong in the government to be formed,” he said.
The PAA secretary general said the party is out to ensure it succeeds in its quest to change the political scene in the region.
Maitha told the meeting their target is to also form parliamentary groups to earn respect and to be recognized after the next polls.
“We want to ensure the era for the party to be taken for granted is gone,” he pointed out .
