This is in support ACCOR’S Sustainsbility initiative to remove single use plastic in guest facing area
In a creative and impactful move to promote environmental sustainability this festive season, ibis Styles Nairobi has unveiled a stunning wooden Christmas tree.
This is part of the ongoing global initiative by Accor to eliminate single-use plastics from guest-facing areas and protect the planet.
‘’We are taking a stand against the environmental harm caused by single-use plastics, a major issue that affects ecosystems around the world. Our hotel is committed to offering guests an eco-conscious holiday experience that aligns with both Accor’s global sustainability goals and its own responsibility towards reducing waste,’’ Thomas Simonnet; General Manager.
The Wooden Christmas Tree: A Symbol of Sustainability
The decision to create a wooden Christmas tree marks a shift away from traditional plastic-based decorations, reflecting the hotel’s dedication to using renewable and eco-friendly materials. Crafted entirely from locally sourced wood, the tree serves not only as a beautiful holiday centerpiece but also as a statement of commitment to minimizing the environmental footprint during the festive season.
This unique tree embodies the spirit of sustainability, with each ornament designed from natural materials such as recycled wood – biodegradable and eco-friendly. The initiative also supports local artisans and communities, reinforcing the hotel’s dedication to sustainable development.
Reducing Plastic, Protecting the Planet
As part of Accor’s broader commitment to sustainability, ibis Styles Nairobi has undertaken several initiatives aimed at eliminating single-use plastics across guest-facing areas. From replacing plastic water bottles with reusable glass containers to eliminating plastic straws and cutlery, and 100% eco-friendly Very ibis Panini menu at the restaurant making significant strides toward reducing its environmental impact.
“We are thrilled to showcase this wooden Christmas tree as a reflection of our commitment to the environment,” said Thomas Simonnet; General Manager. “As part of the Accor group, we believe that every small action counts in the fight against plastic pollution. This festive season, we hope to inspire both our guests and staff to continue supporting sustainability in all aspects of their lives.”
