Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on Thursday was sentenced to 12 years in prison or pay Ksh. 52.5 million after being found guilty of conflict of interest in a Ksh.588 million graft case.

The court said he influenced the award of the multi-million tender to Testimony Enterprises Limited associated with his wife even though it did not qualify for the tender.

In the sentencing at Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, the ex-county chief was similarly barred from vying for any political seat for a period of 7 years.

His wife Susan Ndung’u with whom he was charged was slapped with a one-year imprisonment or pay a fine of Ksh.500,000 shillings.

Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki delivered the sentence on Thursday.
