By John Kariuki
Fatma Barayan is an aspiring Woman Representative for Mombasa County.
An accomplished lawyer, Fatma is flying the United Democratic Alliance UDA party banner in the Coastal City
She has been eloquent in spelling out her manifesto for all and sundry.
“Sharing my 10 point agenda with the Akamba community living in Mombasa county which will inject more resources to SMEs and CBOs owned by women and youth to capitalize the economic priorities that enhance livelihoods for the majority of Mombasa residents at the bottom of the economic pyramid.
They endorsed my policies and unanimously accepted my bid as their women representative in the coming elections.”
Ms Fatma main target is economic empowerment of the people through a bill she intends to fashion called the microfinance bill through which SMEs can access credit at a very low interest rates and without collateral.
This will open up the avenue for youths to access credit to use as capital for their businesses away from the punitive bank interests.
She will also lobby for a hospital in every sub county especially in Mwakirunge in Kisauni constituency where people are at the moment are having to commute all the way to Makadara. She says healthcare is her topmost priority and that it should be accessible and affordable.
