Lantano is new Laikipia County Speaker
By John Kariuki
Lantano Nabala is the newly elected speaker for Laikipia County Assembly. Speaking to journalists, Lantano exuded confidence in his new mandate and pledged to execute his duties diligently and without favour.
“I hail from Sosian Ward in Laikipia North. I’m very happy that we have had a very democratic vote and I assure Laikipians development in every corner.
The County assembly as we have just begun today, we want to recognise the principles of separation of power, whereby the County assembly will run independently and the county executive will run independently but at the end of the day we shall have to coordinate to ensure that we have properly executed our mandate in terms of legislation and representation and we shall oversight the executive.
We will thoroughly do our work and we do not have a plan to derail any work and we are urging the Laikipia Citizenry to support us,” Lantano said.
Lantano will be deputised by Anthony Theuri Wambui the MCA for Nanyuki ward who observed: “Im grateful that the 21 elected MCAs voted for us and as a young person I’m focused on initiating development fund to see to it that the youths of a certain locality benefit from the contracts. I championed the streamlining the water provided by NAWASCO whereby we abolished the 1,000 fine imposed on residents. We are ready to listen to residents of Laikipia to bring meaningful development “
John Gichuki alias Joali, the newly elected MCA for Rumuruti ward assured the people of Laikipia servant leadership especially through his foundation, the Joali foundation that seeks to uplift the living standards of the people and dignifying life for all.
“I’m very happy to see the rapport of my fellow MCAs. I’m assuring my people in Rumuruti that I will continue distributing more than 1,000 water tanks under my community uplifting program,” Joali noted.
Other MCAs who exuded confidence in the newly elected leaders include: Thingithu MCA Stephen Nderitu , George Karuiru (Ol’Moran ward) among others.
