KPA Gantry Crane Operator Wins NCBA Golf Series

A Kenya Ports Authority [KPA[ gantry crane operator won the NCBA golf series 2022 division one tournament played at the Mombasa golf club in Mombasa county.
Japheth Obonyo won the 14th leg of the 2022 NCBA Bank golf series after posting 38 stableford points ahead of the grand finale before end of the year to be held in Nairobi.
He was playing on 16 handicap under handicap 0-18 category which attracted 150 golfers drawn from the coast region.
The runners-up award was won by Aloise Ogola after posting 37 points on countback playing on 12 handicap.
The awarding ceremony was presided over by the bank institution’s Group director, marketing communications and Citizen, Nelly Wainaina and Deputy Group director, marketing communications and Citizen, Jacquie Muhati. In attendance were the bank General Manager Asset Finance Eilzabeth Karanga among others.
In Division 2 golfers from 19 to 36 handicap category, Rishi Dodha won after posting 46 points playing on 36 handicap.
The runners-up award went to Sheel Dohia after posting 40 points playing on 23 handicap.
The club’s member Caroline Mokaya won in the ladies’ category playing on 20 handicap after posting 33 points.
Fidel Wasike won the runners-up award after posting 37 points playing on 25 handicap.
The club chairman Ken Mwangi said they recently carried out an elaborate irrigation project to water the course fairways and green.
On his part the club captain James Wachira disclosed the club is on its last phase of the irrigation project that involves the installation of a desalination plant.
He said the plant will convert the salty water from the Indian ocean into fresh water.
