Sakaja delivers bag of goodies to MCAs in his first address to the Assembly

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has promised to work closely with the county assembly in his quest to transform the City.

Sakaja who made his first address to the assembly called for a smooth relationship between the executive and the assembly to spark development.

To entice the MCAs,the governor promised to create a liaison office that will link the two entities.

He also promised to speed up release of the Ward Development Fund,ensure timely disbursement of the Bursary funds at the beginning of every term and kick start the school feeding program in  every school.

He called for effective and objective oversight from the assembly.To achieve this,he committed to strengthen the legislators’ capacity to deliver their mandate.

The governor likewise recognised a number of challenges that need to be tackled.These include completion of stalled projects,payment of pending bills and need to improve revenue collection.

The pending bills currently stand at Sh 99 billion accrued by past regimes and an extra Sh 16 billion accrued by the Nairobi  Metropolitan Services ( NMS).

Some of the projects to be complete include the Dandora Stadium,Joe Kadenge Stadium and equipping the health facilities built by the NMS.

Sakaja called on senator Edwin Sifuna to follow up on the Sh 16 billion pending bills accrued by NMS in a short period of 3 years.
