The Mombasa county government has been challenged to be more serious in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Civil societies under the umbrella of coast civil society reference group network chairperson Zedekiah Adika urged county governor Hassan Ali Joho to move away from his comfort zone and be more serious to stem the spread of the virus within the county.
He urged Joho to open his eyes and be more focused on measures against the pandemic in the county.
“The governor is not showing the seriousness he initially had against the outbreak of the deadly disease,” he pointed out.
Adika said it’s now three weeks the medical practitioners within the county are on strike in the middle of the pandemic.
He was speaking during a media briefing at Muslims for Human Rights [MUHURI] offices in Mombasa county.
The civil society chairperson said he represents almost one hundred civil societies under the umbrella of coast civil society reference group network.
Adika told journalists they are concerned that the focus is at the coast region and wanted Joho take to take the issue seriously and engage stakeholders to contain the spread of the deadly disease.
“There is need for the county government to talk to the medical doctors to resume work while they are looking for alternative measures,” he said.
