Govt urged to Review Car Importation Policy
The Government has been implored upon to relook into the regulations surrounding the importation of Motor vehicles in the country.
Currently, all motor vehicles imported into the country must be 8 years or less from the year of Registration.
This includes vehicles from the general public and returning residents. Additionally, the gap between the year of manufacture and the year of registration should be 1 year or less. Otherwise, the car cannot be imported in Kenya.

“You find that the 8-year rule for the importation of Motor vehicles works against us as a country because our neighbouring countries of Tanzania and Uganda permit vehicles of several years,” Mr. Mwangi noted.
Many people prefer to import foreign used cars into the country as they are cheaper.
Foreign used cars are also less worn down compared to locally used cars.
This is because, foreign roads are better and so, are less weary on the vehicle. However, to import a car into the country certain regulations need to be followed.
He at the same time welcomed Kenyans to take this holiday season to buy cars at affordable prices which as A Plus Motors they are offering.

I’m therefore urging all drivers to exercise caution on the roads as they go about ferrying people to different destinations this Holiday season.” Mr Mwangi concluded.
