Germany to promote Kenya’s tourism sector

The recent resumption of direct flights from Germany to Kenya is a committment by the Germany government to promote tourism in Kenya.
Germany ambassador to Kenya Mr Sebastian Groth said apart from the resumption of condor flights to the country Lufthansa airline is already on board.
He said Lufthansa is likely to increase their frequent flights to the country through Jomo Kenyatta airport in Nairobi county.
“The move by the airlines is testimony that Germany citizens enjoy the country’s beautiful hospitality,” he pointed out.
Groth pointed out that last year the German airline Eurowings launched its direct flight from Frankfurt to Mombasa which now flies three times a week.
He was speaking at Severin Sea Lodge in Nyali constituency, Mombasa county duiring the marking of the hotel’s 50th anniversary celebration since being established in Kenya.
The envoy revealed his country is in contact with the Kenyan government to increase the number of tourists to the country.
Groth said there is a turning point regarding the tourism sector after the Covid 19 pandemic which was a disaster worldwide.
He pointed out that there was a pause during the August general election awaiting to chart the way forward.
“The move was due to violence which rocks the country during general elections,” he pointed out.
In his welcome remarks the hotel holdings chairman Severin Schulte listed the guests on major investments for the past two years manly on a new main Power Board with digital monitor commissioned by imexolutions.
He added in the past two years they have rehabilitated the hotel’s Solar Hot Water Plant.
“The hotel also invested on modernisation of the wastewater treatment plant with German Kordes technology and local contractor Bulkon Build,” he pointed out.
The hotel chairman has assured the forum they have started to rejuvenate the facility to make it fit for the post Corona times adding that he believes the beautiful country will not disappear because of Covid.
Schulte announced the hotel is reopening Training Center which currently locally trains some 50 young people in craftsman trades!
He added from next year they expect to enroll 30 young people for free training to be in charge for the trainees.
“The move is our famly way of giving gifts to the community in addition to the theoretical lessons,” he disclosed.
