Ruto and Team should desist from politicising places of worship-Raila
By Tobby Otum
It’s wrong for President William Ruto’s administration to use Sunday Services as government’s political platform.
Orange Democratic Movement [ODM] party leader Raila Odinga lashed out at Kenya Kwanza administration for using the Sunday services to announce government programs.
He insisted it’s wrong for the government to use Sunday church services to unveil the government track record.
“Let’s use the Sunday service for prayers to the Almighty God and not for politicking,” he pointed out.
Raila asked politicians to respect places of worship and to desist from using places of worship as political podiums.
He was answering questions from journalists during an interview after attending the first Sunday service for 2023 at the Anglican Church of Kenya [ACK] Mombasa Memorial Cathedral in Mombasa county.
The ODM leader urged politicians to embrace the culture of respecting places of worship and to stop using prayer forums for politicking at the expense of the worshipers.
Raila, who was accompanied by Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, told journalists ODM is stronger and united and refuted claims his Deputy Hassan Ali Joho has quit the party.
He lashed out at social media reports that Joho has quit the party saying he is also in constant conversations with the former governor who is expected to jet back into the country soon.
“Azimio la Umoja is intact and it has not disintegrated after the conclusion of the controversial general election,” he pointed out.
