Nyali lady captain wins pipeline golf tourney

Newly elected Nyali golf lady captain won this year’s Kenya Pipeline Company [KPC] tournament played at the Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa county.
Mary Mariga registered her first victory this year after posting 42 points to be declared overall winner over the weekend.
She managed to beat 168 golfers with a difference of one point to the male winner to be declared overall winner.
Playing off 18 handicap she scored 23 points on the first nine holes and 19 points on the second nine holes before being declared winner.
Sam Muraya, playing off 23 handicap, won in the men’s category when he posted 41 points after scoring 22 points on the first nine holes and 19 points on the second nine holes.
The men’s runners-up award went to Inayet Kudrati playing off 23 handicap after scoring 19 points on the first nine holes and 20 points on the second nine holes.
The awarding ceremony was presided over by KPC Senior Engineer Operations [coast region] Caleb Martin on behalf of the state corporation’s Managing Director Joe Sang.
The tournament’s best gross score award went to William Kaguta after scoring 74 cross.
The winner in the lady’s category was Annmarie De-Jong playing off 31 handicap and posting 38 points.
Best senior award went to Paul Macharia after scoring 40ponts while the best junior award went to Tonny Gachau with 38 points.
Sang said in his speech that sponsoring of the golf tournament nationwide is part and parcel of the state corporation’s annual activities.
