KPA vows to support business community and  investors in the country

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Captain William Ruto has assured both the business community and investors of their support and  urged them to make use of the port facility.

 

He asked them to make use of the facility at the authority in clearing of goods and cargo.

 

“We proud of ourselves in vowing to support the business community and  investors in the country,” he said.

 

Captain William Ruto said they are ready demonstrate that the facility is the gateway to the East African region.

 

He was speaking at the reception of MT Marlin Sardina, the largest oil tanker to dock at the Kipevu Oil Terminal II since its commissioning, at the port of Mombasa in Mombasa county. The Marshall Islands-flagged vessel has an overall length of 275 meters, a draft of 14.5 meters, and a beam of 48 meters.

 

The KPA boss said the largest oil tanker has docked with 121,403.53 metric tonnes of AGO (Automative Gas Oil) cargo with 40 percent of the cargo meant for the transit market.

 

Captain Ruto disclosed the vessel  is the largest for the facility to handle since the commissioning of the ultra-modern facility in 2022 by then Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta.

 

He urged the business community and investors to make use of the facilities.

 

“The ultra-modern facility at the authority has the capacity to handle vessels with over 170 metric  tons,” he disclosed.
