As Police battle anti-finance bill demonstrators, other protestors who are in support of bill are also holding their parallel demos in Nairobi.

The pro finance bill demonstrators started their protests at Uhuru Park and marched through several sections of the CBD.
They chanted “ Ruto! Pitisha Bill,”

They carried placards castigating those opposed to the bill saying people must pay taxes and work.

The demonstrators said they support the government and President William Ruto’s leadership. They said “Gen Z must calm down,” and be realistic.

Protestors have been pouring on the streets of Nairobi ahead of the two protests today.

This is the third round of the anti finance bill protests and the second of the Pro finance bill protests that started on Monday 24.

Following the protests security has also been increased around Parliament and State House in Nairobi.

There was heavy police presence in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), the expected epicentre of the youth-led protests.

The security officers have been deployed on various streets in the city centre with access to areas leading to Parliament being sealed off to the public.

By 9 am, there were a handful of protests along a number of streets in Nairobi with police dispersing them.

On Monday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki said that those who wish to demonstrate can go ahead with their plans as long as they adhere to the rule of law.
