Sonko gifts Nairobi women with foodstuffs, sanitary pads on special day
Over 500 women in Nairobi benefited from foodstuffs and other gifts from former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
This was part of the governors promise to celebrate and acknowledge women in the society as the World marked the International Women’s Day.
The women drawn from the 85 wards in Nairobi got foodstuffs, sanitary pads and pampers for those with babies. The exercise was done by the Sonko Rescue Team at his Upperhill residence.

The ex-governor in his statement posted on social media said that there is a need to celebrate women for their achievements in all spheres of life.
“Over 500 women get foodstuffs, sanitary pads from Happy International Women’s Day to all women across the globe, we appreciate women’s efforts and celebrate their achievements in all spheres of life. My team and I took time to support women from various areas in Nairobi County to show our appreciation. Women are gift to the world, we can’t live without them as they are the real architects of society,”
Sonko told The Times that this is part of his initiatives as the Good Deeds ambassador for Kenya.

“We have been doing this for many years but today it was important that we stand with our special mothers and sisters,” he said.
In February 2019, Sonko was appointed the Good Deeds Ambassador by an Israel-based organization for his generosity in helping the needy.
An Israel delegation, led by Good Deeds Global Chief Executive officer Kaynan Rabino, named him their Good Deeds Ambassador for a three-year period.
Other leaders who posted celebratory messages for women include opposition leader Raila Odinga.
“WE CELEBRATE YOU! Throughout history, you have and always continue to make countless sacrifices for Nations and humanity,” Raila posted.
