Starehe Boys' Centre Marks 65th Anniversary with Ksh65M Endowment Drive

Starehe Boys’ Centre is marking its 65th anniversary with a campaign to raise Ksh 65 million for its endowment fund, aimed at supporting the education of bright but financially disadvantaged students.

The endowment fund is managed by Starehe alumni through the Grifin Memorial Endowment Trust (GMET).

The Ksh 65 million target will secure 65 permanent places at the school for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

This initiative reflects the school’s ongoing mission to provide quality education to bright, needy children.

Speaking at a cheque presentation during the school’s reopening, Starehe Boys’ Centre Director Fred Okono highlighted the institution’s history and its commitment to education.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we are also focused on securing the future of Starehe by raising funds to support the education of bright but needy students. This endowment fund will help us continue our mission of shaping future leaders who embody the values of integrity, service, and excellence,” He added.

He emphasized the importance of the endowment fund in ensuring the school’s sustainability and its ability to continue shaping future leaders.

Justice Nzioki wa Makau, President of the Old Starehian Society, reiterated the alumni’s commitment to supporting the school.

“This contribution is a testament to our ongoing commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped us. We believe that supporting the endowment fund is a crucial step in ensuring that future generations of students have the same opportunities we had, to learn, grow, and succeed at Starehe Boys Centre.”

He noted that the endowment fund will help ensure future students have access to the same opportunities alumni received.

Starehe Boys’ Centre, which has consistently ranked among Kenya’s top-performing schools, plans to host a series of events to commemorate the anniversary.

These events will bring together alumni, students, staff, and well-wishers to celebrate the institution’s legacy and impact on society.

The fundraising drive is expected to play a central role in securing the school’s future, with an emphasis on continuing its mission of providing access to education for needy students.
