Four Flying Blue members, travelling from Nairobi, have received 55,000 worth of travel miles after the successful completion of a rewards campaign celebrating KLM Royal Dutch Airline’s 55th anniversary of flying to Kenya.

The winners were required to purchase either Air France or KLM tickets between June 5 and June 26, 2024, for travel by November 5, 2024.

Flying Blue is the loyalty programme of Air France – KLM, one of the largest airline conglomerates in the world, and a member of the SkyTeam Alliance.  The miles earned under the programme are credited to an online account and can be spent on exclusive reward tickets to any destination of choice, book extra options, rental cars, hotel rooms, shopping at Flying Blue stores globally, or donations to charity. Additionally, the miles earned can be transferred to family or friends.

“At KLM, we have been committed to serving our customers flying the Nairobi route for the last 55 years and we are dedicated to offer even more exceptional services going into the future. As we celebrate this milestone, we are really pleased to reward four of our loyal customers, who get to benefit from their membership of the Flying Blue programme,” said Hildabeta Amiani, the Air France-KLM Country Sales Manager, Kenya

The Air France- KLM group was founded in 2004, when the two airlines merged to form a holding company that today has over 500 aircraft flying over 77 million passengers every year to more than 300 destinations around the world. Flying Blue, the loyalty program for the merged airline group, was introduced in 2005.

Aside from the Air France – KLM group, customers can earn or redeem Flying Blue miles at any of the other 19 airlines in the Sky Team Alliance. This is in addition to several non-Alliance members, including Etihad, Japan Airlines and Qantas among others, with whom Air France – KLM has established partnerships for reciprocal elite benefits.

The redemption of Flying Blue miles is based on a dynamic pricing model, with the mileage required changing based on demand. As per the date of publishing this press statement, the 55,000 miles awarded to the winners could be redeemed for two economy class tickets from Nairobi to Copenhagen, or a premium economy seat to the same destination, with some 15,000 miles remaining.
