Dr. Ekrah Welcomes Germany Jobs Deal with Enthusiasm

The recent announcement of a labor migration deal between Kenya and Germany has sparked widespread jubilation among the country’s youth, offering a glimmer of hope for the millions who remain unemployed. Under this promising agreement, Germany will open its doors to 250,000 skilled and semi-skilled Kenyan workers, making it easier for them to find employment in Europe’s largest economy.
As part of the deal, Germany has agreed to relax some of its immigration laws, including the possibility of extending temporary residence permits for Kenyans who secure approved jobs.
In addition to job opportunities, the agreement will also facilitate the issuance of long-term visas for Kenyans seeking to study or undertake vocational training in Germany. Upon the expiration of these visas, Kenyans may be granted temporary residence permits for study purposes in Germany for up to two years.
Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u, CEO of the German Institute of Professional Studies, has quickly recognized the potential of this opportunity. On Thursday evening, she joined the German Ambassador to Kenya, Sebastian Groth, at a reception held at the Ambassador’s residence, ahead of the Kenya-Germany Job Fair.
Dr. Ekrah expressed her strong commitment to implementing the Kenya-Germany bilateral agreement, particularly in promoting employment opportunities for German speakers in Germany.
Dr. Ekrah urged Kenyan youths not to hesitate in seizing this chance. “Whether you’re a graduate, a diploma holder, or a product of vocational training, I encourage you to develop your career in Germany,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of this rare opportunity.
This deal represents a significant step forward in addressing Kenya’s unemployment challenges and could pave the way for many young Kenyans to build successful careers abroad.
