CS Justin Muturi Urges Institutional Reforms to Elevate Africa’s Public Service

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi said the continent aspires that the heads of governments, ministers and senior public servants have access to the latest thinking on institutional reforms.

 

He added that this is on management and leadership competences that drive value creation in policy environments and governments.

 

“I wish to acknowledge the work the Kenya School of Government and management development institutions have done for the past years,” he disclosed.

 

Muturi added this is to provide learning and development programs to build the capacity of public officers in different aspects of management and operations of government in Kenya.

 

He spoke during the first regional conference on the Africa school of government held at the Kenya School of Government in Mombasa county.

 

The CS said the region and the continent and beyond now need one premier institution that develops curricula to realize Africa public service excellence.

 

Muturi pointed out that the five-day forum offers the government a singular opportunity towards the achievement of that goal.

 

He called for unity in the continent to pursue and to realize capable institutions and transformed leadership by changing Africa school of government to build and develop cutting edge programs that can tackle, unlock and develop transformative solutions to public challenges.

 

“I urge you to use your talents and energy to advance the common good which aims to foster a more diverse and inclusive African community everywhere you are called to serve,” he disclosed.

 

The CS has called for change to Africa’s public service to make it better and more humane.

 

Muturi further said apart from making it more humane it should also be made more prosperous and more peaceful.

 

He said the forum is aspiration and affirmation of Africa’s Heads of State and governments’ golden jubilee namely the 50th celebrations during the celebration of OAU /AU back in May 2, 2013.

 

He maintained the forum is to examine mechanisms of advancing transformative agendas.

 

“To pursue a united approach to enhance the capacity building of Africa’s public service,” he pointed out.
