Sureya Hersi died at the Mombasa Hospital while undergoing treatment
Pall bearers carrying the remains of Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) National treasurer Sureya Ali Roble for burial at Kikowani Muslims Cemetery in Mvita Constituency, Mombasa county.
Mourners thronged Kikowani Cemetery to bid farewell to Sureya Ali Roble during an emotional burial in Mvita Constituency, Mombasa county.
The famous Sureya Hersi, who died on the material day at the Mombasa Hospital while undergoing treatment, was until her demise the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) National treasurer.
Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir led mourners at the burial site.
Others included Kilifi Senator Madzayo Stewart and Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki, Voi MP Khamis Abdi Chome and his Changamwe counterpart Omar Mwinyi among others.
The deceased is wife to Mohammed Hersi, a national icon who is also a stakeholder in the tourism industry.
In his message of condolence to the bereaved family Senate Speaker Amason Kingi Jeffah said the demise of Sureya Hersi has left them devastated and in deep shock.
He said the party has lost a humble, selfless and tolerant soul.
"A role model and an inspiration to women," he added.
Her last party function was during the party’s women engagement forum held at Kimbilio hall in Changamwe constituency, Mombasa County.
Sureya had called on members of the public to conduct mature politics and embrace peace.
She had added that most of the political skirmishes are contributed through the use of abusive language on social media.
"People are enriching themselves through social media but women are using the platform to cause skirmishes," she had pointed out.
The party national treasurer had called on women to rally behind the government of the day and urged them to change their political attitude and stop using abusive language on social media.
She hard served as Coast Water Services Board [CWSB] Chairperson and one time as Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) in Kenya vice chairperson.
MYWO, headed by National Chairperson Mrs. Rahab Mwikali Muiu conveyed a message of condolence. A similar message was conveyed by Mombasa county MYWO chairperson Afya Rama.
