Nairobi businessman and politician Johnson Oduk has donated Ksh 30,000 to support funeral arrangements for the late David Ochieng Jara, the former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Lang’ata Youth Leader.
The fundraising event, held at Charter Hall in Nairobi, drew family, friends, and ODM supporters, all united in mourning the sudden death of Jara, fondly known as “Commanda Jara.” His untimely passing has sent shockwaves through Lang’ata Constituency and Nairobi at large.
Jara, known for his loyalty to ODM party leader Raila Odinga, was remembered as a selfless leader committed to the unity and growth of the ODM party in Lang’ata. His contributions to youth empowerment and party cohesion earned him admiration from both peers and party officials.
Speaking during the fundraiser, Oduk paid tribute to the late youth leader, describing him as a courageous and visionary individual.
“Jara was a rare gem. He was down-to-earth and always had a smile on his face. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to the ODM party and his tireless efforts to champion the unity of Lang’ata ODM members,” Oduk said.
Oduk lamented the loss of a promising leader whose contribution to the ODM party was still greatly needed. “A leader has fallen in Lang’ata at a time when his leadership was most needed for the prosperity and growth of the party,” he said.
He also offered words of comfort to Jara’s family, friends, and party members, urging them to remain strong.
“May the Almighty Lord give strength to his family, ODM members, and friends during this difficult time,” he said as he handed over his financial support.
The death of David Ochieng Jara has left a void in ODM’s leadership in Lang’ata, with many remembering him as a vibrant, committed youth leader whose legacy of service and unity will not be forgotten.
