Women dominate campaigns as Nairobi workers gear for elections

A good number of women have come out to contest a number of seats in the Nairobi Workers Union elections slated for this week.
One of the key contestants is Rosemary Wanjiku kimani who is gunning for the treasurer’s seat that has four other contestants.
She is jointly in the race with Ann Mwendwa Kubai who is going for the Youth Representative post to ensure all the affairs of the young workers are catered.
Kubai has promised vibrant policies geared towards addressing the immediate needs of the workers with Rosemary promising to represent them on matters finances as she has been instrumental.
she has been agitating for union members affairs at Lapset and laprust where majority of them are collectively owed to the tune of billions. As at last year county workers went on strike demanding over 28 billion from their statutory deductions
The other Woman in the race is Grace Kerubo vying for the assistant Secretary post. Grace comes in with vast experience having served in the same position before.
The three ladies have promised to work closely with workers once reelected to ensure deductions will be paid.
