President William Samoei Ruto has begun a 10-day development tour of the Ukambani region ahead of this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled for Kitui County.
The President started his visit on Monday at Konza Technopolis in Makueni County, where he is expected to inspect ongoing infrastructure and innovation projects under the government’s digital transformation agenda.
During the tour, President Ruto will visit several counties including Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui, where he will launch and inspect development projects in housing, roads, water, and education sectors.
State House sources said the President’s itinerary is aimed at assessing progress on key government programmes while engaging local leaders and residents on the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The Mashujaa Day celebrations, to be held in Kitui on October 20, will be the first to take place in the region. The national event will highlight heroes and heroines who have contributed to Kenya’s development and resilience.
The President is expected to conclude his tour in Kitui Town with the commissioning of new county projects ahead of the national celebrations.
