Mumias East MP Peter Salasya Alleges Abduction Attempt by Individuals Impersonating Police Officers at Hotel

Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has raised alarm over an alleged abduction attempt involving individuals who posed as law enforcement officers. The incident, which reportedly occurred on the night of Friday, May 9, 2025, at a hotel in Nairobi, has sparked concern over the safety of public officials and the misuse of police identity by criminal elements.
According to MP Salasya, the suspicious individuals approached him claiming to be police officers and attempted to forcibly remove him from the premises without presenting any identification or proper documentation. He stated that the group was not in uniform and failed to follow any formal procedure typically associated with police conduct.
“I narrowly escaped being taken by unknown people masquerading as officers. I was saved by quick-thinking hotel staff and security who sensed something was wrong,” Salasya said in a statement shared on his official social media accounts. He further emphasized that the group’s behavior raised red flags, prompting him to resist and raise alarm.
The MP called upon the Inspector General of Police and other relevant security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly, urging the government to protect its leaders from politically motivated intimidation or criminal harassment.
This is not the first time Salasya has found himself at the center of controversy and security concerns. His political career has been marked by several confrontational incidents, including public altercations and disputes involving political rivals and the public.
As investigations into the alleged abduction attempt continue, the incident underscores the need for enhanced personal security measures for public figures and a crackdown on the misuse of police identity for illegal activities.
