KCPE top performer believes Computer engineering holds the future for Kenya
When the results for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2020 were released,Oginga Jevalil Githuki,13, was unperturbed because he knew he had done well.
Always an ambitious and dedicated student at school, Oginga managed to score 400 Marks out of the possible 500 to emerge among the best performers in the country.
The marks saw him rank position five at Excel Grasslands Academy, Nakuru County.
His dream is to be a computer engineer and specifically a software developer and data analyst as well.
The ever smiling Oginga believes that with Kenya growing so fast in matters of technology, the course will put him at the right place to offer many solutions to the digital world.
“I think it is just amazing and I want to be part of the population that offers solutions to the challenges facing this country,” he said.
His father Johnson Oduk admits that Oginga’s love for science and mathematics has been exceptional since his early days in Primary school. He says that the boy keeps talking about computer engineering or architecture engineering.
“His heart and mind will tell you that he wants to be an engineer and we have no doubt that he will get what he wants,” Oduk said.
He is definitely destined to join a top public secondary school where he will have the opportunity to further cement his dream.
Computer engineers evaluate, design, and maintain computer hardware and software systems. They develop, test, and design, computer processors, circuit boards, and network systems. They resolve problems or address any concerns that occur with the hardware or software and aid in the advancement of computer technology.
A lot of reading and prayer got him the incredible performance. He was top ten in class from class one onwards.
The top candidate in KCPE 2020 was Faith Mumo, a candidate from Kari-Mwaili Primary School who scored 433 marks. Wesonga Nanzala of Chogoria Girls came second with 432; she tied with Murithi Angel who scored similar marks.
