By Tobby Otum
Bandari football club edged out Tusker football club 2-1 to deny them collecting maximum points in a mid-week premier league fixture played at Kenya Ports Authority [KPA] Mbaraki sports club in Mombasa county.
By losing out to the coastal team Tusker was dislodged from their leading position in the premier league standing after Kenya Commercial Bank [KCB] walloped Western Stima football club 2-0.
The bankers are now with 57 points while Tusker has 55 points out of 28 matches with the league entering its home stretch.
Back at the Mbaraki sports club the home team came from behind in the second half to collect maximum points beating the league leaders.
The visiting team was the first to score through Rodger Aloro in the 32nd minute of the match.
Aloro scored with a spot kick from outside the box sending Bandari custodian Michael Wanyika the wrong way.
The first goal against the home team scored amid tension made the team play a disjointed game with the visitors still leading with 1-0 at breather time.
In the second half the home team mounted pressure and they equalized in a similar spot shot taken by full back Hassan Iddi in the 57th minute of the match sending Tusker custodian Emery Mvvgukere the wrong side of the net.
The man of the day’s match Siraj Mohamed blocked visiting team defender to pass the ball to Henery Meja who scored the second goal.
The home team was the first to get a corner kick which went to waste with Meja missing the chance after he came in as substitute for Boniface Muchiri who got injured.
