Needy students at ease after Sh 200,000 donationNairobi

Deputy Governor Ann Kananu donated Sh 200,000/- through her AK Foundation to assist needy students from her former school Our Lady of Mercy Magondo pay school fees.
The donation from Kananu is part of her efforts to support education to girls especially from less privileged families.
“The six needy girls will greatly benefit from these amounts from AK Foundation. I am a mother who also values education, especially for young girls. It pains me when I see young ladies suffer.”
The Acting Governor challenged students to take their studies seriously as this will lay a firm foundation for their future.
She also advised students to observe high standard of discipline, noting that good morals are the only avenue for good performance, leading to a bright future.The Acting Governor promised to unveil a mentorship program for the school.
The school’s Principal Madam Catherine Kinanu Mutembei thanked Kananu for the donation saying it couldn’t have come at a better time when most parents were affected by the ongoing pandemic and this affected their ability to pay school fees on time. She commended Ms Kananu for her commitment in ensuring that no child dropped out of school due to lack of fees.
The school’s total enrollment is 1,072 girls and almost half of them hail from destitute families and single parents.The Principal was accompanied by Father Peter Gichunge and Lucy Mbioki.
