Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA) has released the public opinion data of the 2022 general election today.

According to the poll result, the former prime minister Raila Odinga is leading the presidential race in Nairobi but the gap between him and the deputy president William Ruto is small enough to suggest that the level of contestation in this county will be high.

In Murang’a county DP Ruto is likely to get 71% of votes ahead of Raila Odinga who is likely to get 16% of the votes.

The popularity-strength of UDA in Murang’a is mirrored in that of William Ruto regarding the forthcoming presidential contest.  Whether Raila Odinga can close the gap between them in the remaining five months will be a major challenge, given the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region of which Murang’a is part.

A huge gap is seen in Busia county as the most respondents prefer the former prime minister as the next president. He takes the lead with 76% of votes while his neares rival, DP Ruto gets 12% of the votes.
