Clergy In Clarion Call for Peaceful Elections
By John Kariuki
Men of God have underscored the importance of peace before, during and after the general elections.
Bishop Simon Kieru of Kenya Assemblies of God Nyahururu District, has urged all leaders to be in the front line to preach peace and cohesion whilst at the same time cautioning them to avoid divisive politics on the basis of gender, race, tribe or party affiliation.
“As a Church we have been on our knees praying for our Nation and to reinforce the prayers, we preceded with a month of fasting. Let us not be divided at this time when the politicians are busy gallavanting in the hunt for votes. Our Nation Kenya will still remain.”
Bishop Kieru also urged the leaders to respect the institutions mandated by law to oversee the smooth electoral process and that those who shall not make it should concede in order for our country to move on smoothly.
