UDA allies Welcome Supreme Court Verdict, Congratulate President-elect Ruto
The Supreme Court has on Monday dismissed the petition filled by the Azimio One Kenya Alliance and others challenging the election of president-elect William Ruto.
Delivering the verdict, the court, led by CJ Martha Koome, dismissed all the issues of determination which the petitioners hoped to be solid enough to cause a nullification of the election.
Reacting to the court’s decision, a number of leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance welcomed the decision, noting that Ruto’s win had been confirmed.
Led by Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, the leaders exuded confidence in the leadership of Dr Ruto adding that it was time for the country to get down to business and fulfill the pledges made during the campaign period.
In a message posted right before the court’s ruling, MP Muhia further observed that the country would have it’s 5th president affirmed on September 5.
“Over all, the glory of the Lord will be a canopy and a tent to give shade by day from the heat, refuge and shelter from the storm and the rain. (Is 4:5b-6). With confidence in God who hears our prayers and protects us, let us pray, To our words give ear, O Lord. Our 5th on 5th… Lets say Amen,” she stated.
Kenya Kwanza co-principal, who is also the leader of ANC Party, Musalia Mudavadi asserted that the will of the people had been unanimously validated by the Supreme Court. He congratulated the President Elect and the entire Kenya Kwanza fraternity.
Professor Kithure Kindiki, who was at the heart of the petition defending DP Ruto stated, “The Supreme Court has SPOKEN! And it has SPOKEN in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, that Dr. William Samoei Ruto was VALIDLY ELECTED as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya on 9.8.2022.
He added, “This man, Wafula Chebukati, whose name has been maligned for the past 3 weeks, has been VINDICATED. Thank you, Wafula Chebukati for remaining steadfast and true to your Oath of Office.”
On her part, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru tweeted a congratulatory message to the incoming head of state.
“Heartiest congratulations to the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. @WilliamsRuto, CGH. May God grant you wisdom, protection & favour. God bless Kenya!” she wrote.
Former National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale observed that the chairperson of IEBC Wafula Chebukati, his colleagues, staff and the entire management of the IEBC had been vindicated by the ruling.
He further noted that according to the Supreme Court Judges, the 2022 elections were free, fair and verifiable, with utmost credibility.
Hassan Omar, who recently unsuccessfully participated in the Mombasa gubernatorial race stated, “His will has been done! It is ultimately God’s will. Congratulations The 5th @WilliamsRuto.”
Renowned lawyer, Ahmednassir Abdullahi, who has been a staunch supporter of DP Ruto was not left behind in reacting to the ruling.
