“I Refuse To Answer’’ Sakaja’s Nominee Tells MCAs During Her Vetting
Former NMS employee Maurine Njeri shocked Nairobi County Assembly members during her vetting for CEC environment position when she declared that she will not answer some questions and at some point questioned and lectured the panel led by Speaker Ken Ng’ondi.
She was first put to test by Majority leader Peter Imwatok who wanted her to elaborate her action after she failed to honour summons of appearing before county assembly oversight Committee to answer to some queries.
While Responding to the committee, Maurine Njeri said she can’t respond to such, since it was not part of interview questions she expected from the committee.
“Through Chair, I can’t answer to such question, that’s past tense, ask relevant questions I will respond,”Njeri said.
When hard pressed, Njeri also failed to convince the committee that she was ready for the job,she failed to explain how much Uhuru Park rehabilitation cost under her watch.
“Through Chair am not sure how much Uhuru Park rehabilitation cost, unless you give me time I check,” she confidently told the vetting committee.
On some dubious payments to some garbage contractors, Njeri admitted paying millions of shillings to them but failed to state which company in particular.
