Leaders must put their own self-interests aside-Ruto

Politicking after every five year elections circle is not healthy for the country’s democracy and development President William Ruto has said.

The president  said it’s now time for tackling and listening to challenges facing the electorate after last year’s general election..

He said it’s regrettable for the  country to keep on discussing the country’s leadership hardly less than a year after the polls.

‘it’s now an appropriate time  to discuss development rather than politicking after last year’s polls,’ he pointed out.          

Ruto  said at the moment  his  priority is to address  the electorates’  issues rather than politicking after last year’s polls. 

He spoke during the launch of the controversial long-awaited Sh 25 billion Mwache Multipurpose Dam project in Kwale County.

The project has been delayed for five years due to land disputes and compensation concerns, causing anxiety among residents.

The contractor, Sino Hydro Corporation and Engineering of China, signed the deal in 2018.

The head of state urged the opposition to give priority to challenges facing the electorate rather than driven self-interested of  leaders      

Ruto blasted opposition leaders who have taken protests  as their priority rather than the electorate who cast their votes after exercising their democratic right.

He appealed for calm for government development  programs  initiated to take place instead of street   protests.

The lifestyle of the electorate  will change through government programs of  development,’ he added

The head of state urged opposition to stop holding their protests  and destroying  people’s properties and embrace peace and tranquility.         

Ruto urged opposition  to allow bipartisan approach through the national assembly to correct where things have taken wrong routes.

He asked other leaders  to embrace development rather than wasting time on politicking.
