Kenya Harlequins Eyeing National League Title

Kenya Harlequins in action against Kenya Commercial Bank RFC who they beat 15-12 during the finals of the 2024 Driftwoods Sevens Rugby match played at Mombasa Sports Club in Mombasa county.

Kenya Harlequins technical head coach is confident that he will win the sportspesa national rugby 2024 Driftwoods Sevens crown and title.

 

Paul Murunga said his main target is to win the remaining matches ahead in Nakuru. He pointed out the team’s main target is to win the forthcoming tournament in Nakuru.

 

“In the last tournaments the team has been at the top of the standing table,” he emphasized. Murunga said the team has set the pace by winning the day’s tournament.

 

He was speaking during an interview at the conclusion of the finals of the 2024 Driftwoods Sevens Rugby main cup match played at Mombasa Sports Club in Mombasa county. They managed to beat Kenya Commercial Bank RFC 15-12.

 

The circuit leaders head coach told the media the win at the weekend has set the pace to winning the crown. Murunga said he congratulated the team for a win ahead of the one hurdle to be crowned title winners.

 

Kenya Harlequins team captain Amon Wamalwa said their encounter during the final match against the bankers was tough despite having been ready and prepared.

 

He told the media in sports you have to struggle and fight to the final whistle of the match to achieve winning results.

 

“We are confident we will win the remaining tournament away in Nakuru,” he pointed out.

 

The runners-up captain Richard Wangala told the media that their semi final match against the defending champs Kabras Sugar who they beat 15-0 had prepared them well before losing to the former champs at the pulsating finals of the 5th leg.
