Azimio leader Raila Odinga is has criticized President William Ruto’s administration over the continued abduction of critics, mostly young Kenyans some of whom have been found dead.
Speaking on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi during a prayer meeting held on his behalf by ODM Women, Raila questioned the police service, saying that they had failed to protect the Kenyan youth.
Mr. Odinga said that he would not stand aside and watch injustices against the Kenyan youth and that has demanded answers on the abduction issue.
“We are against all the evil that is happening in this place. You all know that I cannot stand aside and watch evil. This issue of abducting Kenyans and the youth. Arresting them and killing them. This issue must stop immediately in this country,” said Raila.
“We cannot tolerate people being abducted now and then. Who are these people who are abducting the youth? The police are saying that they don’t know. If they don’t know who is doing this, then how are we supposed to report the cases to the police? This must stop,” he added.
Last week, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) dispatched a team of advocates to Isiolo County following reports of abductions by unknown individuals after a section of residents heckled President William Ruto during a rally in the area on Saturday, February 8.
Multiple young people according to preliminary went missing under mysterious circumstances, prompting concerns of targeted abductions and intimidation. The National Police service later issued a statement saying the individuals were arrested on drug related offenses.
