James Nyoro ranked best performing Central governor in new poll
A survey released by Insight Strategists Solutions Africa in partnership with City Hub Limited has ranked James Nyoro ranked best performing Central governor.
Sang, who is serving his first term, scored 67.2 in development, while his approval rating was 56.2%.
He was followed by John Lonyangapuo of West Pokot (63.1%) and Josphat Nanok of Turkana with 54.5% in the survey.
While reacting to the ranking, the governor said he achieved the feat by focusing more on development and less on politics.
“The rating to me has presented a fairly true picture of the situation. I am happy particularly that my development rating is higher than just the approval rating. This is because I have focused more on the development of my county and little focus on politics hence the slightly lower approval ratings,” he said
Sang stated his administration had increased bursary from KSh 48 million in five years to KSh 60 million yearly and constructed over 207 ECDE classes since he took the oath of office.
He listed the Milk processing plant in Kabiyet, Kapsabet Mother and Child Hospital, Kipchoge Keino Stadium, Nandi Textile in Mosoriot and Eliud Kipchoge Sports Training Academy as some of the pending projects that he will focus on as the 2022 General Election inches closer.
Best performing governors Overall, Sang was ranked the fifth-best performing governor.
Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana topped the list of the best performing county bosses Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria emerged second (73.4%), whereas his Kakamega counterpart Wycliffe Oparanya was placed third with 71.3%.
Worst performing governors
Acting Nairobi county governor Anne Kananu was ranked the worst-performing county boss.
Kananu was ranked at the tail end after scoring 19.4% in development ratings and 13.2% in approval ratings. Others were: Stanley Kiptis (Baringo) 32.1%, Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay) – 29.7%, Dadho Godana (Tana River) – 29.6%, and Fahim Twaha (Lamu) -26.4%.
