The inter religious and inter denominational communities in Kenya have come together to preach peace during the electioneering period.
The churches through the Lavington United Church, which comprises of the Methodist Church, the Anglican Church and the Presbyterian Church, will begin the peace campaign by holding a mega gospel music concert dubbed “Gospel Music Festival”.
The concert will attract over 10 gospel artistes including Eko Dydda, Size 8, Mercy Masika, David Wonder etc and shall be held on 25th June at the Ngong Racecourse Grounds along Ngong Road.
The artistes performing at the concert will be part of the team participating in the dialogue through music during and after the elections.
Reverend Naftali Gitonga of the Lavington United Church said that the concert will be a lead up to the 40 days of peace dialogue and prayer.
“We shall have a National Day of Prayer on the seventh of August and we welcome every Kenya abroad and at home”, said Mr. Gitonga. This will be two days before the date of elections.
Mr. Solanki Kalpesh who was speaking on behalf of the Hindu Council of Kenya emphasised on the need for all Kenyans to practice political tolerance and asked all religious leaders to participate in the peace campaign.
