Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Officers are now on spot over witch hunt on City Hall Officers.

Kileleshwa MCA and Publics Account Committee member Robert Alai revealed that there a section of senior officers at City Hall that are selling all the narratives to DCI and hoping that they will use some magic fishing rod to find a fictitious payment which doesn’t exist.

“Some employees who were so powerful yet so corrupt at the Nairobi City County are finding it hard to work under the new leadership with assembly which is keen to monitor everything. They are selling all these narratives to DCI and hoping that they will use some magic fishing rod to find a fictitious payment,” Alai stated.

He said that he personally engaged the auditors from the Office of the Auditor General at City Hall and the claims of hot air payment are not true.

“I am an elected MCA and member of Public Accounts Committee. I have also engaged the auditors from OAG and internal ones to see if the claims had some validity. None of the claims is true. No payments were made to the said companies, let alone for the supply of Hewa. Those who were behind the NMS scandals are now out to target the innocent employees in the county who are now just trying to streamline things,” he added.

He accused the officers of turning into serious extortionists around City Hall.

On Wednesday, August 2, afternoon one of the secretaries was arrested and some computers sezeid by DCI officers.

Probe began after

A Sh1.4 billion shilling payment was flagged off after the Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakangó said there was lack of supporting documents for the payment.

She requested for information on the specific cases handled by the law firms as well as the judgments delivered. Ms Nyakango also said in the letter addressed to Mr Kerich that the invoices created by the county were fake and would not be matched with the payment vouchers.

This came even as a cash crisis continues at City Hall over delays by the CoB to release funds to the county. Last week, the MCA’s boycotted assembly sittings for a whole week over Sh60 million allowances owed to them. A fuel crisis has also hit the county, affecting its fleet of vehicles as the county waits for the funds to be released.
