Popular Kikuyu Benga musician and Administration Police officer, Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki, widely known as Samidoh, is facing disciplinary action after the National Police Service (NPS) declared him a deserter. According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, the artist-turned-officer failed to report back to duty on May 27, 2025, following the expiry of his official leave, sparking a manhunt by law enforcement.

Samidoh, who is currently attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) based in Gilgil, has allegedly been absent without official permission for more than ten days. Following the National Police Service Act, Chapter 84 (Revised 2014), this absence meets the legal threshold for desertion. Section 94(1) of the Act states that an officer absent without leave for more than ten days shall, unless proven otherwise, be considered to have deserted. Section 94(3) adds that any officer found guilty of desertion is liable to summary dismissal or imprisonment for up to two years.

Police in Gatumbiro, Nyandarua County, Samidoh’s home village, have received instructions to arrest him on sight if found. Sources indicate his recent transfer from the Central Region Police Headquarters to ASTU may have influenced his disappearance, although official reasons remain undisclosed.

Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, addressed the matter during a press conference on May 28, reiterating that all officers, regardless of their public profiles, are subject to transfers and disciplinary protocols.

Samidoh has recently stirred political waves, notably chanting opposition slogans during a live performance on May 16. He was later seen meeting Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, adding intrigue to his political affiliations.
