Shakespeare in the Park’s production of Twelfth Night is a family affair for Lupita Nyong’o and her brother Junior Nyong’o.

The real-life siblings star in the classic play, playing at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater in New York City, as twins Viola and Sebastian.

Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his wife, Dorothy, travelled to New York City to attend the premiere of William Shakespeare’s production.

The event was a milestone for their children, who are making stage history as they portray the twin characters Viola and Sebastian in The Public Theater’s Free Shakespeare in the Park production at the newly renovated Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

It is the first time the siblings have performed together on a professional stage. Lupita, shared a family photo from the occasion, writing: “The loved ones turned up, and we love them for it! ️ Thank you for celebrating Twelfth Night with us.”

Aside from Junior and Lupita, Twelfth Night also stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Andrew Aguecheek, Sandra Oh as Olivia and Peter Dinklage as Malvolio, among others.

Junior graduated from the UCSD MFA program and has appeared in numerous productions, including The Outsiders and other Shakespeare favorites like King Lear and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
