Muslims cleric have made a passionate appeal to organizers of anti government protests to embrace peace after the resumption of pressure to the government to heed to their calls.
Under the umbrella of Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK)  the clerics said its regrettable that thugs and goons have  taken advantage of the anti government protests to infiltrate them and cause skirmishes and mayhem.
CIPK Organizing Secretary Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa said the group of infiltrators have brought business operations to a standstill in parts of the country.
“The anti government protests have led to loss of lives and destruction of property to the extent of paralyzing business operations countrywide,” he pointed out.
He was addressing a press conference at the CIPK office within Mwembe Tayari area in Mombasa county.
The CIPK leader has urged the protesters to halt their protests for the sake of peace and tranquility and to avert cases of destruction of property and loss of lives.
Khalifa asked the protesters to take advantage of the call for dialogue with President William Ruto.
He added the protesters will have the best avenue to present their grievances to the Head of State rather than holding countrywide protests.
